Loosely painted roses, one stamp background and no line colouring with colour pencils

Hi all and what an exciting blog I have for you today. These are my first projects as guest designer for Stamplorations and I cant wait to show them to you.

The projects showcase different techniques or styles that you can use for cardmaking. The first one is called loosely painted roses..which is one of my favourite style of painting. I love the way the brush strokes are relaxed and I really get to let go as I paint the image.

PROJECT#1- Loosely painted roses

For this card, I first masked the middle of the card front with a post it note. Then using Stamplorations Radiant Roses I stamped the image 4 times ensuring that the large rose was positioned at each corner of the square. After stamping each corner, I removed the post-it note and began painting the image with distress inks by Ranger. Colours used were Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint, Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Frayed Burlap, Candied Apple, Scattered Straw.

Once I completed painting the flowers, I then stamped the masked off area with the Stamplorations Imagine stamp set. I chose the message 'Power to Imagine ' I then added a border of black and white twine, which was wrapped 3 times in the shape of a square  and adhered with mini glue dots.
For effect I adhered the card front to a black background with a pretty die cut stitched border. Here is another look at the card again.

PROJECT#2- No line colouring with Prismacolor Colour Pencils

This gorgeous card features the Stamplorations Christmas Candles- Large .

The image was stamped with Memento Dandelion ink and coloured with Prismacolor pencils.

Colour Pencils used

PC911,PC912,PC913,PC980,PC908,PC924,PC948,PC921,PC925,PC918,PC1002,PC916,PC1004,PC,914

Starting with the candles I used a light pressure to add the deepest colours to the candle and from there I continued to apply heavier pressure until I achieved the desired effect. For the candle I added a touch of red and green to make the cream candle a little more festive.

Now to colour the leaves I decided to outline all of the leaves in brown so I could see them better and colour them a lot easier.

Here is the completed colouring with a few berries added in. I added the glow of the candles by colouring just off the image of the flame.

I wanted to emphasise the yellow tones of the card, so I added a gold frame around the image and glued it onto a white card front. Here is another look at it.

PROJECT#3- One stamp background

For my 3rd project I did a card with Painted diecut words framed on a stamped background.

This was a little more intricate than the first , requiring multiple steps. First I did an all over stamped backgound using a stamp from Stamplorations Christmas bell Medley and coloured with Ranger's distress inks-Faded Jeans, Forest Moss, Peeled Paint and Broken China.

Next step was the words Peace Love Joy from Stamplorations. Using the same four distress inks for harmony, I did a wash of those colours and die cut the words from it. I drew a light border in pencil to work out the area I needed to paint for the cut out.

Once the words were cutout I embellished them with glitter and added them to a strip of white cardstock with spashed on distress inks. This was adhered to the background and blue adhesive gems were sprinkled all over the card and for fun I added a strip of green glitter cardstock.

Hope you love the cards and I look forward to seeing you back here at Sweet Cherry Cards where every day begins with a smile. Dont forget to participate in the blog hop that this blog is linked to for your chance to win a Gift Coupon worth $15 to spend at the Stamplorations store.

Have a Sweet Cherry Day!
