Easel card with digi images, stickers, diecuts.

Hi there and welcome to another episode here at Sweet Cherry Cards.

Today's design is surely going to put a smile on your face even though its a bit unusual. This is a card I made for a 5 year old boy, who is like my little nephew. He wanted to give a card to the driver who dropped him to school everyday while in pre school.

I decide to do a theme around him being in a car and having a background scenery of landscape with grass , sky and some type of animal. I was actually going for a cow or goat or even a bird. So...because I wasnt in the mood to do any more colouring, I decided to look through stickers in my stash. While searching, I came upon the disney sticker of pluto ( wished Pluto was my dog)and a bird house which I thought was unusual but cute of which I liked the shape and colour.

The pic of the car was found on google. I searched for one that was free to use, share, modify etc. and I resized it and cut it out with my scissors. The boy image is from mo's digital pencil called ' For teacher 2 this image.....

For the background I distressed a blue sheet of paper with pink and blue inks. I also added a bit of white pigment ink to smooth out the blues in the background. I die cut the grass and balloons and just simply cut a thin strip of white and black cardstock for the road.

I was now ready to put the card together. First I folded an 8 1/2 x 11 white card stock in half and then I scored and folded the top half of the card in half again, thus creating the easel. I had previously cut a white sheet of cardstock to 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 to glue on to the background scene I created.

After adding all the elements of the background to the white sheet of cardstock, I now needed to adhere it to the bottom half of the top fold. I also did a continuation of the grass and road to use as the stopper for the easel. Here is a side view of the card so you could see how it was adhered.

Now isn't that cute. Hope you like today's card and I look forward to seeing you back here at Sweet Cherry Cards.

Space puppy and distressed inks

Hi there

Welcome to another episode of Sweet Cherry Cards. In today's card I am using Sasayaki's image 'Space puppy' whom I will call Jamie.

Now 'Jamie' the space puppy has taken off in his spaceship and he's excited to visit another universe. He has stars as his companions as he goes exploring to bring you big birthday wishes and he is in need of some colour for his adventure.

I first downloaded the digital image and sized it to a more comfortable size to fit my card. I then selected colours I wanted to use from my distress inks stash namely mermaid lagoon, tumbled glass, chipped sapphire, wilted violet and peeled paint.

From my blick markers, I selected colours, similar to these inks and coloured 'Jamie' and his spaceship with them.

To colour the background, I first used the Tumbled Glass distress ink colour all around the image. The next colour I applied was Mermaid Lagoon in the four corners of the background. Chipped Sapphire was added to two opposite ends of the background and purple to the other two remaining corners. The last colour green was then added, closer to the image in two areas. I spritzed it twice with water, allowed it to dry and then trimmed down the background.

I then adhered the background to a card front approximately 5 x 7 3/4 inches and finished it up with blue and white twine.

Here's 'Jamie' in his space craft again.

Hope you like today's card and please leave a comment on my post.

Feel Better with Pom Poms and Prismacolor pencils

Hi there and welcome to a new episode of cardmaking at Sweet Cherry Cards.

Todays card is entitled 'Feel Better'. The idea behind the card is to cheer on anyone who is feeling in low spirits or not feeling well...and let them know that theyre not alone.

I know that it can sometimes be difficult to find a bit of happiness when you feel down but the mere fact that someone took the time to send you or make you a card to show you that they understand you need cheering up, I think its enough to raise your spirits.

The stamp I've decided to use is that of a cheerleader called 'pompomabella' at Stampingbella. Its a really cute stamp.

Here are the prismacolor pencils I used for the card
Pompom- orange, crimson red, poppy red, carmine red, blush pink
Dress- yellow ochre, cream, canary yellow, lemon yellow
Hair- dark brown, burnt ochre, sienna brown
Body- light peach,peach,burnt ochre
Ground shadow- dark brown, sienna brown

After colouring the image I backed it on to red and white striped paper and I also added a button with red and white twine.

I hope you liked today's card and I look forward to having you back here at sweet cherry's card.

Sunny skies for Father's Day

Hi there and welcome again to another exciting episode here at sweet cherry cards.

In honour of Father's Day this weekend, I am showcasing a card I made for a friend of mine. This card features sunny skies within die cut windows and other embellishments which add exciting elements to the card.

The surprising thing with this card is that I did the foreground after I did the scene inside the windows and yet they seemed to match up. I was amazed at that.

To create the scene in the die cut window, I first diecut a circle into some copying paper and using it as a stencil I distressed the bright sun image using dried marigold, scattered straw and mustard seed. Using die cut clouds which I stuck together, I began making the shapes of the cloudy sky with distress inks tumbled glass and mermaid lagoon .

I used the same distress inks for the foreground and the same colours to paint the balloon that I then stuck to the sky with double sided tape. I added the image of a horse because the intended father loves horses and the 'Father's Day' sentiment completed the design.

Markers, Pencils, Distress inks - Sasayaki Digi Stamps

Hi there and welcome back to Sweet Cherry Cards.

Today I am featuring a digi stamp from Sasayaki Glitter Stamps. I got it earlier this year from Kit and Clowder and this is the first time I am featuring it.

In my card today I used markers, colour pencils and distress inks.

The image was first coloured with blick markers and finished off using prismacolor pencils. For the background, I taped off parts of the background to make an unusual sky pattern with distress inks.

I then added the message 'Sometimes a new journey requires you to step into the unknown.'

Hope you like my card and I look forward to seeing you back here.

Blick , Copic Markers , Prismacolor and Sweet Escape Digis

Hi there and welcome back to another Sweet Cherry Card episode.

Even though I did not make a card today, I still had a lot of fun colouring this image by Sweet escape digis. It was a free stamp I got through the group Kit and Clowder.

My intention was just to relax and free my mind from trying to colour perfectly and I can tell you it was very liberating. I enjoyed the experience very much.

I used blick and copic markers and finished off with prismacolor pencils. I truly found this process alot of fun and full of joy.

Hope you try this one day and just let the artist in you just...flow....

See you back here soon.

Steampunk meets Glitz and Glamour

Hi there and welcome back to another interesting episode here on sweet cherry cards. The card I am showing you here today is done in a glam steampunk style aka my version of 'vintage'.

I guess being an artist has definitely made me yearn to add a few vintage styles to my card making process. Today I am dabbling with the style steam punk with a bit of a twist- a bit of glitz and glamour.

One of the things I learnt from an article by Grace Fussell, I read on vintage styles, is that steampunk is a sort of 19th century meet futuristic style and its represented by the use of cog wheels - mechanization, as can be seen on the background paper I used. I also added some white dots with nuvo crystal drops to the message 'thankful for you' to represent white neon lights around the message.

The glittery flowers were stencilled on using nuvo pink glimmer paste and I added recollections extra fine rose white glitter for 'glitter' measure.

I hope you like this episode of sweet cherry cards, and I look forward to seeing you back here for another episode of clean and simple card making fun! Look out for a few more vintage cards in the month of June.

Thanks for stopping by.

Townhome for Tiddlyinks Fab Friday

Hello there and welcome again to another fabulous friday at Tiddlyinks. The card I made today, features the stamp townhome

Its one of the early stamps I bought when I first discovered tiddlyinks and I enjoyed using it to make a card for a friend, who was moving into her new home. I thought it was fitting for this fab friday as this is the last blog I will be doing as part of the Tiddlyinks design team as I decided to take a bit of a break and this stamp reminds me of how welcomed I felt when I joined the team and how  I will miss them.

Now back to the stamp. It will make a wonderful card for a new home owner, or new neighbour. It can be paired with other stamps for more themes if you like.

The stamp was coloured using distress inks and then enhanced with glossy accents, fussy cut out and adhered to the background. I then die cut the fence using memory box wrought iron fence.

Hope you liked today's card and look forward to seeing you right back here at sweet cherry cards.

Dew drops on florals

Hi there and welcome back to another sweet creation here at sweet cherry cards.

Today's card features a floral with dewdrops on its petals. The project involved the use of watercolouring techniques using distress inks and prismacolor pencils.

Normally my go-to colour for flowers is yellow because it reminds me of sunshine and the warm feeling you get with it. For this flower, however, I used blue distress inks- salty ocean, broken glass and prismacolor pencils were used to bring the dewdrops alive.

I, first, lightly painted the petals in broken glass and began working on the dew drops. Using salty ocean , I formed the shape of the drop and added water to dilute the colour , leaving, a white area to represent where the drop picks up the light. Using the distress ink- broken glass, I carried the colour almost to the middle of the drop and washed out the remainder of the colour with water. With the pencils I added more dimension to the drops and finished the look with a white sharpie. Shadows were then added to the remainder of the flower and another layer of distress ink- broken glass was added.

I stamped the greeting on vellum and added the enamel drops to hide the glossy accents I used to adhere the vellum to the card. A little glitter completed the look.

Hope you like today's card and look forward to seeing you back here at sweet cherry cards.

Powerpoppy and Tulips makes a perfect combination

Hi there and welcome to another edition of sweet cherry cards.

Today I am featuring tulips in a hobnail pitcher by Powerpoppy. This beautiful image is very versatile. I used it both for a mother's day card and a birthday card. The birthday card is actually for my mom who will be 84 on the 16th May and she loves flowers.

Here are the two lovely creations

Both cards were coloured using blick and copic markers as I do not have a lot of varying colours in my marker stash. This allows to me to extend the life of my markers and to give me more hues to work with.

Colours used were:-
Blick - canary yellow, saffron ,pink ,orange, dark green, leaf green, apple green
Copic - Y13,Y18,RV000,RV06, RV14,YG09, G00, B04,B02,B00

I'm sure youve noticed that the vases were coloured slightly different. The mother's day card was coloured using a vertical stroke while the birthday card I used horizontal strokes.

The flowers were matched to the background papers to make the images really stand out and I added embellishments in the form of rhinestones.

Hope you like today's cards and I look forward to seeing you back here at sweet cherry cards.

Forget me nots for Tiddlyinks May Challenge

Thank you to those who visited and commented on my blog during last weekend's blog hop. It was quite a success.

Today I will be showing you a card based on the theme for this month's challenge which is florals and plants. The image I am using is called forget me not. A lovely blue flower which can be used for birthday cards , mother's day cards and inspirational cards as its so uplifting.

Here is my card for today's challenge blog

I first added the flowers to a square border in adobe and printed the image. Using distress inks salty ocean, broken china, chipped sapphire, twisted citron, peeled paint, gathered twigs, frayed burlap, mustard seed, candied apple, I coloured the image.

I also die cut a window through which the accented blue pattern could be seen with some glitter glue added to the flowers for good measure. The sentiment was raised using double sided tape.

Hope you like today's card and I look forward to seeing you on my next blog.

Tiddlyinks Fab Friday- April 2018

Hi there

Welcome to another Fab Friday at Tiddlyinks. This month, I am using the fun stamp Sweet Dreams Wryn. This stamp comes in two versions- Wryn in bed with pjs, reading a book with a night lamp and bookstand nearby. The second is Wryn reading in pjs and cute bunny slippers.

This stamp is really great as a birthday card for enthusiastic book readers and those who love to dream. Oh it also comes with a digital paper which makes for a great background.

Here is a 3 panel card I made using this cute stamp and painted using distressed inks.

Now I used a mix of distress inks for this project but here is a list of a few of them - vintage photo, chipped sapphire , mermaid lagoon, candied apple, pink lemonade, citrus green, mustard seed, scattered straw. Like paint you can mix the colours to make your own unique hue to colour your projects.

Distress Inks and a Wish upon a star .....

Its Challenge time again at Tiddlyinks and this month's challenge is super fun.

Think circles.....not going in circles but a circular themed card. I had several ideas for this challenge but decided on this one.

The image used today is one of the newest images in Tiddlyinks called 'Wish upon a Star'.

I decided to create a night background using distress inks with additional stars. At first when I did the starry background, I highlighted the star in a halo of light and then I got darker as I neared the ground but it didnt seemed right so I reversed it. Now the sky starts dark and gets lighter as it hits the ground and I added a few more stars with white pigment ink.

Distress inks I used for the background were gathered twigs, peacock feathers, tumbled glass, mermaid lagoon, picked raspberry, blueprint sketch, salty ocean.

White pigment ink was used to smoothen the image.

Markers used
Skin- E 11, E51,E000 and Y000
Hair- E 47,E18,E15,E13,E11,E51
Clothes-Y35, Y19,Y13,Y21,Y000
Pants-B24,B04, B02, B000
Grass-G28, G00,G21,G03,YG17,YG09

Stars- White Sharpie

Hope you liked today's card and that you will check out all the other talented designers at and their circular challenge design.

Its time for Fab Friday at Tiddlyinks

Hi there and thanks for joining me for another Fab Friday at Tiddlyinks

As usual its jam packed with fabulous cards created by the wonderful design team.

For today's showing, I chose another seaside themed stamp - an extra actually(and boy do you get alot of extras from Christy) and its from the stamp set Shh-Hark...remember I am not using the main image...I am using an extra but its just as fun.

Now for the good part ....the colouring...I contemplated using paints at first but settled on my copic markers. I kept mainly to my B n B's (blues and browns) for this one...with a hint of green.

Copic colours B04, B00,B000,B24,B02, B18, B14,E51, E000,E15,E18,E13,E11 and G00

Now my first colouring attempt was fair but I wanted to tweak it up abit so I redid it. Of course, I am not throwing it away...I'm sure I can find a purpose for it....

I added some texture to the sand with a stipling might notice the white ink among the brown stipling using a sharpie water based paint pen.

To add drama to this beauty, I covered the bottle with Ranger's glossy accents. How cool is that. Here is my card again...

Now if youre wondering what this card can be used for...well in this case the words I wrote for the inside message centred around 'being patient'....

I hope you enjoyed today's card and I look forward to seeing you back here for another exciting day at sweet cherry cards. Remember 'every day begins with a smile....'

Its Molly time at Tiddlyinks

Hi there

Today I am sharing with you one of the stars of Tiddlyinks and her name is Molly.

The stamp I am using today is called Molly Swims. It conjures up sunny days with lots of warmth and sunshine. This can be used for birthdays, just because or just to celebrate learning to swim.

I used both markers and watercolour paints with this stamp. The image was coloured using copics while the beach background was painted in watercolours. I used glossy accents to make the plastic of the inner tube standout as well as the water in the background to give the feeling of being on the ocean. Here is Molly swims

Hope you had fun at this week's challenge of Molly Makes at Tiddlyinks and I hope you stop by all the other talented designers as well as pop in the store to get your own Molly

See you next time!

Colouring roses

Today I had my most challenging colouring project...colouring roses.

I love roses but for some reason I find them a challenge when I am colouring or painting them. This one I found less intimidating...I guess because I coloured each petal one at a time and I coloured the image with markers.

The copic markers I used were R29, R27, R35, R43, R00 for the rose. For the leaves YG17, GOO, G21 and G03.

I started with the smaller rose defining each petal at a time. Adding cast shadows, them medium tones then the lightest colour, leaving a sliver of uncoloured parts as my highlights. I repeated the same process for the second rose and added a tiny tinge of yellow just for some contrast. I have found it easier to concentrate on one area at a time as coached by my teacher, Alyce.

The leaves were also individually coloured starting with the colour I selected for the shadows YG17 and then the midtones and highlights were added afterwards insuring that the veins of the leaves were higlighted. I showcased the rose on a wooden background against a blue wall.

Here are my lovely roses

Hope you feel inspired to try out some challenging prospect youve been thinking of doing and remember take small steps and you will get there. Thanks for stopping by.

Colouring hair

Hi there and welcome to another colorific (if that's a word) day at Sweet Cherry Cards.

Today I am showing you how colouring hair in colours other than brown or black, on your image can be quite exciting and frankly quite cute. I must admit with the colours I chose the card has turned out pretty awesome. And to think I almost threw away the image as I was gathering up the scrap paper lying around, to dispose, in the bin. This gem just fell out onto the floor and I went hmmm. This is really cute how did you end up where you did.

So in this post I am showing you that sometimes doing something you might not ordinarily do , can turn out really in the purple hair.

Here is one of the new Tiddlyinks' Wryn images, coloured in blues and purple. Hope you like.....

Folds, Folds and more Folds

Hi there

Its another day of colouring digital images and this one has to do with alot of folds. Its one of Jade Dragonne's wonderful drawings, which was coloured, using the following prismacolor pencils.

Hair- 944,946, 947, 943, 945, 1083
Body- 943, 945, 1034, 1003, 927, 928, 938
Dress- 924,926, 944, 925, 928, 930
Bows- 904,903, 1023,
Shadows-1056, 1074, 1051

I started with the folds of the dress and there were so many to bring to life, I wondered if I would have enough space to do it but I did. I then worked on the bows and the knickers adding more folds. Now you always have to ensure the pencils are always sharpened to a point to really get the results you want.

The hair and body was left for last and then using one of the simple background techniques I learnt in Kit and Clowder I completed my colouring.

Hope you like this practice piece and I hope it will encourage you to try it some time.

Until my next blog...have a great time.

Simple Watercolour Background

Hi there

Today I am featuring a practice piece which I coloured with coloured pencils. The twist is that for the background I used water colour.

The image is a lovely drawing by yampuff and this is from a class by Kit and Clowder where Alyce teaches you to create simple backgrounds. In the class, the mermaid was previously coloured using markers, but because I am on holiday, I only walked with my prismacolour pencils and some watercolour paints left over on my palette. So I did this one on my own, selecting my own colour pencils for the image but using the technique of the watercolour background.

The prisma pencils I used were

BUBBLES- 1006, 1021,and 992
HAIR- 997,924, 922, 944, 925
BRA- 995,994,929
BODY- 913, 1005, 1024, 909 989

The background was loosely painted around the shape of the image with brighter colours to add a glow.

For the scaly look to the body of the mermaid I did some stipling with a darker colour pencil.

Hope you like today's practice piece and that it would either encourage you to take classes at Kit and Clowder if you so desire or to try this piece on your own.

I look forward to seeing back here soon.

Shades of brown

Hi there. I am back with something abit different. Its a colour creation that I did at class with Kit and Clowder Its something I would not normally do. The image which is from Jade Dragonne is coloured in a brown monotone colour.

This beautiful artwork was coloured with prismacolors- sepia, dark brown, light umber, putty beige, sand and sienna brown. This was a class I did with Alyce at Kit and Clowder and I can say she is a fantastic teacher if she could teach me to colour like this. You should check out her classes.

I hope you like what you saw here and that you will stop by and visit me often.

Let's Text at Tiddlyinks

Oh wow today I am so happy to feature one of the newest digis at Tiddlyinks. She is an adorable little stamp called "Wryn's Texting" and we know we do alot of that today with the advent of 'what's app' and others messenger platforms.

So here is Wryn and she is texting up a storm

She is replying to so many messages...which I am sure some of us can agree with. I had these bits of messages from a paper pack by Amy Tangerine which I thought would add some flair to the card. I also used my new copics set of markers which was put together by my friends at Dick Blick when I travelled and the paper is from my stash ( I have so many papers and yet I want more and more).

Now you can use her for Happy Birthday cards, Sorry, Just because, Hello and so much more. So check out the TiddlyInks Store at for more of these images. I cant wait to see what they have in store for the rest of 2018. Dont forget to check out the rest of the talented design team for their creations.

Thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to leave your comments as I would love to hear from you!

Its a Happy New Year at Tiddlyinks

Hi there and Happy New Year again!

I am so happy to be back as part of the design team for Tiddlyinks in 2018. This year is going to be just as exciting as last year. So let's get started by introducing the first card of the New Year and its an adorable one.

The image I am using is Annabelle and PuppyLove. I thought what better way to start the year than with love and friendship. This stamp is an excellent one for a friend's birthday, a 'just because'card or even a 'thinking about you' card! Whichever theme you choose, I am sure it will be appropriate and cherished by the person receiving it!

Here is Annabelle and Puppy Love featured in today's Happy New Year card!

The image was coloured with blick markers in the following colours:- saffron, canary yellow, caramel, brick red, red, light cerulean blue, peach, dark brown, sienna and set on a yellow and brown themed background.

Hope you liked today's card. Don't forget to check out the other blogs and continue to shop at
